It’s World Environment Day and this year, we are supporting the Southern Hairy-Nosed Wombat. Scientists have warned that this iconic Australian species could become extinct in the next 50 years if urgent action is not taken.

Luckily, not-for-profit, the @wombatawarenessorg has been rescuing and rehabilitating wombats for the past 20 years, however the team has reached a critical tipping point. The impacts of climate change - particularly over the last three years - have severely affected natural food sources, leaving the wombat population starving. With up to three wombats rescued each day, WAO’s sanctuaries are already at capacity with 140 wombats currently in care.

WAO Founder, Brigitte Stevens, is calling for support to help expand the sanctuary to ensure they never have to turn away a wombat in need.

The screening of ‘Fight to Live’ which follows the journey of Mixed Martial Arts Fighter, Bec Rawlings, falls in line with May being Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.

Domestic violence is a national crisis with a woman dying every four days at the hands of a partner.

Such an important film for Australia and the world to see.

Screening in select cinemas nationally this May, powerful documentary ‘Fight to Live’ follows the journey of Bec Rawlings, an Australian Mixed Martial Arts fighter who became the first woman to win the World Championship Bare Knuckle fighting title. But despite being a champion in the ring, Bec had a larger fight to face behind closed doors – at the hands of her violent husband and Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Dan Hyatt.

May marks Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, with over 25 women dying by domestic violence in Australia this year and a woman dying every four days at the hands of a partner. As a survivor of domestic abuse, Bec has become an advocate for change and, through this film, shares her story to raise awareness among the wider community to help put an end to this national crisis.
